About

I've played cash games professionally at mid-stakes for over 5 years online.

I've coached dozens of students over the past three years and the same pattern shows up almost every time. Someone arrives with a leak they've already identified. It's usually real but it's usually not the thing costing them the money. The actual problem sits somewhere they'd never thought to look and that's exactly what makes it so difficult to find on your own.

So the aim is always to treat the cause rather than the symptoms. It's easy enough to tell someone they're losing money in 3-bet pots out of position. Working out why that's happening, and what's driving the decisions underneath it, is where the improvement actually comes from. Patch the symptom and the leak just turns up somewhere else.

Taking the opportunity to work with Simon has been the highest EV decision I've made in my poker career so far. He's helped me correct elements of my technical play along with soft skills and general advice on how to approach the game in the current climate. Having someone accessible to ask questions as and when they come up outside of our 1‑1 sessions has been invaluable. He's been flexible and professional throughout. A great guy to work with and I look forward to continuing to do so.

Went into Simon's coaching mainly because I knew my redline was falling and that I simply needed to become more aggressive. My thinking at the time was basically: “ok, he'll show me a few spots, explain some range stuff, I'll find more aggression and then just move up the stakes.” What I actually found was a new world of poker.

Before the coaching I thought I understood the game pretty well, but with every session I realized I'm basically still at the big bang stage of understanding poker. Every coaching had at least one huge aha moment that completely changed how I look at spots and opened up new possibilities I didn't even know existed before. But the biggest thing for me honestly was that it brought back my enjoyment for the game. It showed me how deep poker really is and how much is actually possible when you start thinking about the game differently.

That being said, this also isn't some magic shortcut. You still need to put in the study time yourself and actually work on your game outside the sessions. The coaching gives you the direction and understanding, but you still need to do the work.

Making the decision to get coaching from Simon has paid off big time. The $$ investment you make into the coaching feels like a drop in the ocean after everything you learn. Compared to other 1on1 coaching I have done previously, Simon shines above them all with a deep understanding for the game that he can translate into easy to learn steps. He is also very flexible with his time and goes above and beyond for his students. Would highly recommend!
